MISSION STATEMENT OF THE SAN GABRIEL POLICE DEPARTMENT
The San Gabriel Police Department exists to serve all the people within the community in a
professional and timely manner. We work in partnership with all citizens to establish and maintain
community peace and enhance the quality of community life. Recognizing that integrity is the
foundation of our profession, we endeavor to preserve and protect the public trust placed in us
by adhering to the highest standards of honesty and ethical practice. All employees of the San
Gabriel Police Department will be guided by the following shared values:
Recognize the Individual Needs of People
We will remain constantly aware of the need for compassion and common sense in dealing with
people and will endeavor to enforce the law in a fair and impartial manner. Above all, we will
remember our sworn oath to protect the rights of all people.
Be Responsive to Community Needs
We recognize that the services we provide must be responsive to community needs and that our
primary purpose is the protection of life and property.
Value Our Employees
We will strive to recruit and retain the highest quality employees because they are our most
valuable asset in attaining our goals. We are committed to providing our personnel with proper
supervision and guidance, training, appropriate equipment, opportunities for varied assignments
and/or advancements as well as personal recognition. We will treat our fellow employees and our
work environment with dignity and respect.
Meet the Challenges of the Future
We will meet the challenge of the future through careful planning, involvement in community-
based social and educational programs, incorporation of technological advancements, improved
training, and the wise management of personnel and resources.
