2020 Ford Police Interceptor Hybrid Utility Vehicle (Update)
For the 2020 model year, Ford has redesigned the Police Utility Vehicle (UV). The new version is slightly
larger than the outgoing 2019 model. The 2020 model has been updated with some new features that were not
available on the previous one. This Roll Call Training Bulletin will show you some of the key features of the
new, redesigned model.
The biggest change to the 2020 FORD Police Interceptor UV is the addition of the new hybrid all-wheel-drive
power train. The new power train is designed with the auto start/stop engine feature, which is engaged when
the vehicle is not in motion, and the gear selector is in the drive position. This new system is also designed to
allow lights and emergency equipment to stay on without the engine running. The vehicle uses the hybrid
batteries and if the charge starts to get low on the batteries it will run the engine just long enough to give them
a boost.
In addition to the new hybrid all-wheel-drive power train, Ford added a new Police Perimeter Alert mode.

Another new feature for the 2020 Ford Police Interceptor is the addition of the Pre-Collision Assist with
Pedestrian Detection. Sensors detect a potential collision with a car or pedestrian in front of the vehicle,
flashing a warning on the instrument cluster along with an audible alert. The brakes will pre-charge and
increase brake-assist sensitivity to provide full responsiveness when applied. If corrective action is not taken
and a collision is imminent, brakes can apply automatically. Please note, it is recommended to "Deactivate"
this feature during a pursuit or P.I.T maneuver.
Lastly, the new 2020 Police Interceptor UV comes with a backup assist feature. This feature uses sensors in
the rear bumper and will display in the middle console to assist the driver in backing the vehicle. This feature
can be disabled inside the cabin by the driver as needed.
The attached Roll Call Training Video will give you information on how to drive the new Hybrid UV. In addition,
the video will also show you how to enable and disable some of the features mentioned here. We encourage
everyone to take the time to familiarize themselves with the new 2020 models prior to beginning your shift.
