Upgrade to Mobile Report Entry ( MRE ) 8.0

Public Safety Information Te chno logy ( PSIT ) and Sustainment will begin deployment of MRE 8.0 on Monday
June 6, 2022 , to patrol cars and desktops where MRE is currently installed. The overall look and feel of MRE
8.0 is very similar to the current version , MRE 7.5. Below you will find a list of major changes that you will see
in MRE 8.0. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the new features. If you have any questions ,

Adding Offenses :
The State of Ca lifornia has updated requirement s for report ing crime statistics . To comply with the updated
require ments , adding offens es in the MRE system has changed , and can be completed with the following
steps. First, select the “Statu te” and choose a violation from the list. This will prefill the “Code ” section at the
top of the Offense s section . If you have a seco nd Statute to enter , select the “+Add” box then fil l out all
appropriate fie lds starting with the Statu te. Once all manda tory fields are complete, select the “Save ” button at
the top left-hand corner of the screen.

The “Bias” relate d tab has been moved to the offense pag e and is a mandatory f ield.

Validate Report Err ors:
Upon complet ing a report, you must Validate the report to check for any errors before sending to the MRE
approval Que ue. The “valida tion results ” will now have link tabs to take you to the section that needs
correctio n. Sergean ts approving reports will need to verify officers corrected all report validation errors.
All repo rts w ith validation errors should be sent back to officer to correct.

A red check mark indicates Vali dation has not been done.
A yellow check mark indicate s the report has been validated but errors are p resent.
A green check mark indicates the report has been val idated and there are no error s prese nt.
SENDING A REPO RT:
Upon selecting “Send,” all report s will be t agged “Completed .” If your report is i ncomplete, pl ease deselect the
completed ta b. Please add notes to all report s before sending them up for r eview.
