2. Units should approach quietly with headlights out, park in a safe manner a short distance
away, and be alert for any fleeing suspects.
3. Before entering the house, building, or area, officers should pause for a few seconds to
just watch and listen to possibly determine the number of subjects or if any weapons are
involved. This would allow officers the opportunity to request additional units, if needed,
before entering.
4. Upon entering, arrest any suspects on the scene, request additional units as needed,
stabilize the situation, and obtain and broadcast any additional information.
