SACRAMENTO POLICE DEPARTMENT GENERAL ORDERS GO 410.16 Page 1 of 1 410.16 CHEMICAL RESISTANT CLOTHING 02-13-17 PURPOSE The purpose of this order is to establish guidelines for the use, care, and storage of Department - issued chemical resistant clothing. POLICY It shall be the policy of the Sacramento Police Department that officers use and maintain Department -issued chemical resistant clothing (suit, gloves, booties, and mask filters) in a manner that is consistent with Department guidelines. PROCEDURE A. GENERAL 1. Chemical resistant clothing is specialized personal protective equipment (PPE). This clothing shall be issued to personnel as needed, based upon their current assignment. 2. Personnel shall keep their chemical resistant clothing readily avai lable (e.g. in officer’s patrol car or home -retention vehicle). 3. Chemical resistant clothing shall only be worn when: a. Directed by a supervisor. b. Working in environments or situations that suggest the use of chemical resistant clothing. c. Required as part of a training exercise. B. STORAGE AND CARE 1. Chemical resistant clothing shall be stored in its original packaging and storage case. 2. Packaging shall be inspected for any visible damage on a monthly basis. 3. Officers shall report any damage, malfunction, or loss to their immediate supervisor. C. DISPOSAL In the event your chemical resistant clothing becomes contaminated or is suspected of being contaminated, the clothing shall be disposed in accordance with local, state, and federal laws or as directed by your superviso r.
