Property Bureau Page 1 of 2 50/02.0 (REV 2/96) RULES OF CONDUCT The purpose of this order is to establish general rules of cond uct for non-sworn and volunteer personnel assigned to the Property Bureau. I. General All personnel are expected to con duct themselves in a competent and professional manner at all time s. If there is a doubt or questi on, employees or volunteers are directed to cons ult a supervisor for guidance. A. Employees shall be aware of th e policies and regulations in General Orders, Technical Services divis ion orders, and Property Bureau Operations Orders and procedures manuals. Ignorance of the regu lations and established policies is not an excuse for a violation. B. Employees shall maintain a professional and cooperative atti tude with other divisions and agencies. Any unsolved difficulties will be referred to a supervisor. C. Citizen complaints against any employee shall be documented in accordance with Gener al Order 3/01.0. D. All gifts and gratuities offe red to employees are to be refu sed. Any employee who is offered such gi ft shall immediately inform thei r supervisor. E. Employees shall notify the Pr operty Bureau supervisor of any change of address or telephone number ( General Order 4/02.0). F. Information of a confidential nature containe d in the CLETS system, the CJIS program, and in the records and files of the Sheriff’s Dep artment is protected by law and is not to be disclosed or disseminated unl ess authorized by law, and in the per formance of official duties. G. All persons employed at the Pr operty Bureau either in a paid or volunteer capacity must observe all rules , regulations and laws governing conduct of employees. Failure to do so may r esult in disciplinary action a nd/or exclusion from the facility. Property Bureau Page 2 of 2 50/02.0 (REV 2/96) II. Staff Conduct A. The staff of the Property Bureau shall serve as an example o f propriety to the public and fellow employees. B. Derogatory ethnic remarks, vul garity, acts of sexual bias or harassment are forbidden and shall not be tolerated. C. Property Bureau personnel sha ll not be under the influence o f drugs, alcohol, or controlled s ubstance while on duty. D. Property Bureau personnel shall not give legal advice or rec ommend legal services, including but not limit ed to, bail bondsmen, attorney s, and investigators to customers. E. No person shall use their o fficial capacity to bestow either punishment or preferred treatment upon any customer. F. Personnel shall not discuss the operations of the Sheriff’s Department or the Property Bureau or its per sonnel with customers. III. Security A. Identification is required fr om everyone requesting access t o the facility. Anyone entering the facility must be escorted by Property Burea u personnel at all times. B. Personnel shall ensure the keys and access card issued to th em are safeguarded at all times. Keys or access cards are never to be loaned to anyone. C. Personnel shall advise the Property Bureau supervisor immedi ately if either their keys or access card is lost or stolen. IV. Care and Use of County Property and Equipment A. Personnel shall not remove pr operty, material, or any other item from the Property Bureau without the per mission of the supervisor. B. Surplus County property which has a residual value shall be disposed of in a manner consistent with the di sposition of County property. C. Damage or destruction to Count y property which is malicious or constitutes gross negligence shall constitute grounds for disci plinary action. D. All repairs required to the fa cility are to be reported to a supervisor.
