1 SAFETY INCENTIVE PROGRAM THE PURPOSE OF THIS GENERAL ORDE R IS TO ESTABLISH A PROGRAM FOR THE UNIFORM ADMINISTRATION OF ANNUAL DEPARTMENT SAFETY INCENTIVES . I. GENERAL A. THE DEPARTMENT SAFETY INCENTIVE P ROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE FOR THE ACCOUNTABILITY OF DIVISION SAFET Y PERFORMANCE IN RELATION TO DE PARTMENT STANDARDS AND GOALS ; AND B. THE RECOGNITION OF EMPLOYEE SAFETY PERFORMANCE ; AND, C. THE RECOGNITION OF DIVISION SAFETY PERFORMANCE . II. SHERIFF EMPLOYEE SAFETY INCENTIVE CRITERIA A. EACH TIME AN EMPLOYEE IS EVALUATED , PER GENERAL ORDER 11/07, THE EVALUATOR SHALL MAKE A REASONABLE DE TERMINATION OF THE EMPLOYEE ’S SAFETY AND SECURITY PRACTICES ሺSEEDS SECTION 11ሻ IN RELATION TO HIS /HER RANK, AND RESPONSIBILITIES TO THOSE EMPLOYEES IN HIS /HER CHARGE . B. THE EVALUATION SHALL CONSID ER THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS : 1. PARTICIPATION IN THE DEPA RTMENT SAFETY PROGRAM . 2 26/06 ሺNEW 8/99ሻ 2. ADHERENCE TO SAFE PRACTI CES AND ESTABLISHED ORDERS . 3. SIGNIFICANCE OF CONTRIBUT IONS TO SAFETY PROGRAMS /PRACTICES ሺIF ANYሻ. III. DIVISION SAFETY INCENTIVE CRITERIA A. EACH DIVISION SHALL BE EVALUATED EACH APRIL BY THE DEPARTMENT SAFETY COMMITTEE . THE EVALUATION SHALL BE BASED O N A DIVISION INCIDENCE RATE WHE N COMPARED TO ITSELF FROM PRE VIOUSLY ESTABLISHED RATES . 1. OTHER CRITERIA THAT MAY BE CONSI DERED SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO LOST TIME RATE , COST OF INJURY OR ILLNESS AND /OR SEVERITY OF INCIDENTS . 2. THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE DEPARTMENT SAFETY PROGRAM . 3. THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A DDITIONAL SAFETY PROGRAMS , PRACTICES , TRAINING OR OTHER OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS . B. THE DEPARTMENT SAFETY COMMITTEE SHALL FORWARD ITS RECOMMENDATIO NሺSሻ TO EXECUTIVE STAFF FOR THEIR CONS IDERATION OF AN AWARD NOMINEE ሺSሻ. IV. INCENTIVES A. EMPLOYEES WHO EXHIBIT EXEMPLARY S AFETY PERFORMANCE SHALL BE REC OGNIZED BY MEANS OF, BUT NOT LIMITED TO : 1. DIVISION RECOGNITION AS DE TERMINED BY THE COMMANDER . 2. DEPARTMENT SAFETY AWARD . 3 26/06 ሺNEW 8/99ሻ ሺAሻ SAFETY AWARD NOMINEE ሺSሻ SHALL BE PRESENTED BY HIS /HER SAFETY COMMITTEE REPRESENTATIVE . ሺBሻ THE NOMINATIONS SHALL NOT EXCLUDE ANY RANK WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT . ሺCሻ THE DEPARTMENT SAFETY COMMI TTEE SHALL EVALUATE THE NOMINATIONS BASED ON MER IT AND SELECT RECIPIENT ሺSሻ. ሺDሻ RECIPIENT ሺSሻ SHALL BE ELIGIBLE FO R A TANGIBLE AWARD . B. DIVISIONS THAT EXHIBIT EXEMPLARY SAFETY PERFORMANCE SHALL BE RE COGNIZED BY MEANS OF BUT NOT LIMITED TO : 1. SERVICE AREA RECOGNITION . ሺAሻ EACH CHIEF DEPUTY SHALL DETERM INE WHICH DIVISION UNDER THEIR DIRECTION AND CONTROL IS ELIGIBL E FOR ANNUAL SAFETY RECOGNITION . 2. DEPARTMENT SAFETY AWARD ሺAሻ THE SHERIFF SHALL DETE RMINE WHICH DIVISION
