Assisting Outside Agency Personnel
The purpose of this Order is to e stablish policy for assisting allied law enforcement agencies
and personnel. I. General
Officers from various law enfor cement agencies throughout the c ountry pass through
Sacramento International Airport ( SMF) on official business. W hen Airport Bureau
personnel are contacted by allied agencies the following proced ures will be utilized.
II. The Airport Bureau will ext end reasonable assistance to all ied agency personnel
conducting official business at S MF, consistent with our primar y mission of
supporting the Airport Security Program.
A. Officers conducting surveillanc e or other official business at SMF will be
requested to provide acceptable agency identification and as m uch
identifying information as possible about the suspect.
1. Allied agency office rs needing access to the sterile area will sign in
at the security checkpoint as “ non-flying” LEO’s. Airport Bure au
officers may need to provide an escort based upon the circumstances.
2. Any special arrangements for assistance will be coordinated
through the on-duty Air port Bureau supervisor.
B. Officers needing prisoner transportation will be assisted i n contacting the
appropriate Sheriff’s Department d ivision to request possible a ssistance.
C. The Airport Bureau’s tempor ary lock-up room, when available , may be
used by outside agencies for the te mporary holding of their pri soner(s).
1. The Airport Bureau is not a S heriff’s receiving facility a nd officers
will not accept custody, temporary or otherwise, of any outside
agency's prisoner.
2. No prisoner will be left una ttended in the temporary lock- up room
for any period of time.

3. It will be the responsibilit y of the allied agency personn el to monitor
their prisoner while in the Ai rport Bureau’s Temporary Lock-up
Room.
4. It will be the responsibilit y of the allied agency personne l to
document the appropriate informati on in the Temporary Lock-up
Logbook per Airport Operations Or der 214/01 (2/14), Use of
Temporary Lock-up Room.
III. Any assistance provided under the guidelines of this order will be limited to the
resources immediately availa ble to Airport Bureau personnel. E xceptional
circumstances will be referred to the on-duty Airport Bureau su pervisor.
