Page 1 of 1 20/01 (REV 6/16) Acceptance of Gratuities Prohibited The purpose of this Order is to d escribe the policy prohibiting acceptance of gratuities. I. Policy A. No member of the Department m ay accept any gratuity offered because of the member’s affiliation with the Department. 1. It is not the intent of this policy to preclude members of t he community from expressing t heir appreciation toward law enforcement in general. B. No member of the Department m ay accept any gratuity from any one who is doing, seeking to do, or may imminently do, business with th e Department. C. No member of the Department m ay participate in an evaluation panel for any person or entity seeking to do business with the Department when that member of the D epartment has previously accepted any gratu ity from the person or entity making the proposal. D. No member of the Department may participate in drafting a Re quest for Proposal when that member of the Department has previously acce pted a gratuity from a perso n or entity that may reasonably be expecte d to respond to the proposal. E. A “gratuity” is defined for purposes of this policy as any g ift, including money or any service, discount, favor, entertainment, hospitali ty, loan, or any other thing of value.
