16/19 (New 3/07) Chemical and Other Hazardous M aterials Booking Procedures The purpose of this General Order i s to describe the procedures for booking chemicals and other hazardous materials. I. Chemicals A. Contact the Narcotics Bureau when dealing with drug lab chem icals. B. Contact the hazardous materia ls response team for dealing wi th hazardous materials. C. The Property Bureau will only accept the standard two-ounce samples, correctly packaged/containerized. II. Flammables Gasoline, kerosene, white gas, paint thinner and other flammabl es are never to be booked at the Property Warehous e or put into property locker s, with the exception of the st andard two-ounce sample typically collected in connection with arson investigations. A. Bulk flammables should be photographed and returned to the o wner at the scene if at all possible, holdi ng only the container as evidenc e. B. Contact should be made, through the 24-hour County Operator, to request the County Environmental Divisio n on-call manager respond to ha ndle the disposal of abandoned and/or bulk flammables. C. If the flammables are on a public highway, contact the Depar tment of Public Works and the California Highway Patrol for disposal.
