Sheriff’s Vehicle Fund (Tucker Funds)
The purpose of this Order is to establish policy for expenditur e of funds from the Tucker
Fee Trust account. I. General
Pursuant to Sections 26746 of the Government Code, a processing fee is
assessed for each disbursement of moneys collected under a writ of execution,
attachment, possession, or sale and deposited in a special trus t fund in the
County Treasury. Funds deposited shall be for the exclusive us e of the
depositor. The special fund s hall be expended to supplement th e county’s cost
for vehicle fleet replacement, equipment maintenance, and civil process
operations.
II. Approval to Purchase
A. A request to purchase a vehicle , or vehicle-related equipmen t, or
operational expenses for the Civ il Bureau with Tucker Funds sha ll be
submitted in memorandum form by the division commander to the C hief
Deputy for that service area. Fu ll justification for the reque st must be
included. The memorandum must ident ify the class of vehicle an d any
special equipment required.
B. If the Chief Deputy concur s with the request, it shall be fo rwarded, with the
Chief Deputy’s recommendat ion, to the Undersheriff.
C. The Undersheriff has the final approval authority. Approved requests are
sent to the Administrative Divis ion for processing. Requests not approved
are returned to the requesting unit with the reason for disapp roval
annotated.
III. Accountability
A. The processing fee shall be co llected by the Civil Bureau an d deposited in
a trust fund established for this purpose (Fund 073A, Fund Cent er

B. The Fiscal Bureau shall be re sponsible for preparing appropr iation
adjustment requests and journal v ouchers to transfer funds out of the trust
fund and into the proper expenditure and revenue accounts.
