CORRECTIONAL SERVICES Page 1 of 2 11/03 (REV 7/07) MJ/RCCC OPERATIONS ORDER Staff Meals The purpose of this Order is to standardize the service of meal s at the Main Jail and Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center (RCCC). I. General Information A. Each facility shall provide three (3) meals a day to on-duty staff assigned to the facility and approved official visitors. B. Meals shall be eaten in those areas designated for meal cons umption generally this includes the i ndoor and outdoor dining areas at each facility. C. Staff members unable to leave their assigned work stations s hall be relieved by another staff member or be allowed to eat in their assigned work area. 1. Thirty minutes is allotted to consume the meal. D. The use of metal eating utens ils shall be allowed only in ar eas on the non- secured side of either facility. Metal eating utensils shall b e stored it the staff members personal lo cker when not in use. E. Sworn and non-sworn custody staff shall not leave the facility to obtain meals outside of the fa cility unless specifically author ized by his/her immediate supervisor. 1. Staff whose assignment inc ludes and unpaid lunch (e.g., Administrative personnel) shall be allowed to leave the buildin g to obtain their meal. a. He/she is required to coordinat e the meal break with a co- worker and/or supervisor to ensure someone is available to cover the temporary meal break. II. Facility Visitors A. Persons other than those pers ons assigned to the specific fa cility are required to obtain the Divisi on Commander or his/her designee’s approval before eating meals prepar ed by the facility. Meal Preparation and Delivery A. Kitchen personnel shall pr epare all staff meals. B. Facility cooks shall closely monitor those staff meals which are prepared by inmate workers. C. Persons eating facility meals shall be responsible for advis ing kitchen staff when foods and eating utensils a re in need of replenishing. D. All foods and food supplies shall be delivered to the staff dining area by kitchen workers. 1. Inmate workers shall be escorted and supervised at all times b y either a facility cook or a sworn staff member. Appendices: None Related Orders: None References: None
