Page 1 of 2 10/06 (REV 6/91) Use of Sacramento Police Depart ment Communications Channels The purpose of this General Order i s to delineate the methods t o be used by Department personnel when it becom es necessary to transmit on t he Sacramento Police Department radio channels. I. General A. No Sheriff’s officer will swit ch to Sacramento Police Depart ment radio channels without first advising t he Sheriff’s Communications Bu reau that he/she will be moving to the Sacr amento Police radio and on whi ch channel the transmission will take place. 1. Sheriff’s officers who transmi t on City radio channels will use plain English. Officers will identify t hemselves as: “Sheriff’s Unit 54B1”. 2. When it becomes necessary for a Sheriff’s officer to contact a particular City police officer , the Sheriff’s officer may: a. Ask Sheriff’s dispatch to asce rtain if the City officer is working and have that officer switch to SPD Channel 5 for contact; or b. If the Sheriff’s officer k nows which channel the City office r is on and that the officer is on dut y, the Sheriff’s officer can switch to that City channel, contact the City officer and ask him/her to go to SPD Chann el 5 for information. 3. When a Sheriff’s officer w ants to request assistance from a City officer, the Sheriff’s officer shall advise the appropriate pat rol supervisor of the nature of the request. The Sheriff’s patrol supervisor shall then make the request through an SPD superviso r on the appropriate SPD channel. II. Planned Joint Operations A. For inter-agency involvemen t in a joint field operation, fie ld supervisors from both agencies sh all meet and determi ne which channel will be used. Page 2 of 2 10/06 (REV 6/91) III. Emergency Situations A. During emergency situations i ncluding, but not limited to ho t pursuits, crimes in progress, Signal 1000 , etc., which involve both depar tments by virtue of proximity to county/ci ty boundaries, radio traffic wi ll be on the channel of the departmen t having originated the emergency. III. Configuration of City Channels A. Channel 1 – Sector 2 (Central) N: Bannon St., North B St. S: W-X Freeway (I-80) E: Interstate 80 W: Sacramento River B. Channel 2 – Sector 4 (South) N: W-X Freeway (I-80) S: South City Limits W of Hwy 99 E: 99, except E to 34 th St., S to 4th Ave., E of Hwy 99 W: Sacramento River C. Channel 3 – Sector 3 (East) N: American River S: South City Limits E 0f 99 E: East City Limits W: I-80 and Hwy 99 D. Channel 4 – Sector 1 (North) N: North City Limits S: Bannon St., North B St. E: E City Limits N Americ an River, RR levee E of 16 th S of American River W: Sacramento River E. Channel 5 – Message Channel
