Community Services Officer II
The purpose of this Order is to outline the duties and responsi bilities of the Field Services
Community Services Officer II. I. General
The Community Services Office r II, under the direct supervision of a patrol
sergeant, shall be accountable fo r any assignment and shall be ready at all times
to answer low-priority calls for service. A Community Services Officer II will work in
partnership with the community to identify needs and develop st rategies to resolve
community issues.
II. Responsibilities
Prepares crime, information, and other reports; completes citat ions, books
property, and patrols assigned areas in a vehicle or on foot; c onducts basic
criminal investigations, assist s with towing or impounding vehi cles, conducts traffic
control, speaks at community e vents and presentations, testifie s in court, performs
other duties as assigned. A. The Community Services Offi cer II will respond to the follow ing report calls
as long as the suspect is not likely to return: 1. PC 240 Assault 2. PC 242 Battery 3. PC 374 Littering 4. PC 422 Criminal Threats 5. PC 459 Burglary 6. PC 470 Forgery 7. PC 475/476 Possess/Utter Fo rged or Fictitious Checks
8. PC 484d-484i Access Card Crimes 9. PC 487 Grand Theft 10. PC 484 Theft 11. PC 503 Embezzlement 12. PC 594 Vandalism 13. PC 597 Willful Cruelty to Animals 14. PC 602 Trespass 15. PC 653m Annoying/Threateni ng Electronic Communication

III. Reporting for Duty
The Community Services Office r II shall begin each shift dresse d in full uniform,
complete with required equipment . The Community Services Offic er II shall attend
briefing(s) during their shi ft and will be expected to familiar ize themselves with
information supplied at briefing such as; crime bulletins, info rmation in the briefing
binder, and information pos ted on bulletin boards.
IV. Patrolling the District
The Community Services Officer II shall:
A. Proceed to their assigned area without unnecessary delay.
B. Leave assigned area only on offi cial business or under appro ved
circumstances, immediately retu rning to their assigned area aft er such
business.
C. Actively patrol their assigned area and provide a visible la w enforcement
presence when not dispatched on c alls or operating under the di rection of a
supervisor.
D. Become familiar with their a ssigned area, including; locatio ns of fire
stations, hospitals, schools, places of public assembly, offici al buildings, and
high crime areas.
E. Respond to low-priority ca lls for service and prepare report s as appropriate.
F. Investigate crimes which inclu de; interviewing complainants, witnesses, and
other involved parties. Whenev er possible, the CSO II should satisfy all
parties concerned to the degree c onsistent with good police pra ctices.
G. Report anything which would likely to be hazardous to the pu blic or to law
enforcement.
H. Be alert to conditions which might adversely affect the phys ical or moral
welfare of the citizens in the area.
I. Respond to any complaint, ca ll for service, or other duty, w ith courtesy but
without unnecessary delay.
J. Operate their Department vehi cle in accordance with the vehi cle code,
General Orders, and Operations Or ders. CSO II’s shall not driv e their
county vehicles in Code Three status.

suspect information, or requiri ng immediate follow-up, turning in necessary
portions prior to the end of shift.
L. Perform any other dutie s as assigned by supervisors.
