Communications Page 1 of 2 6/03.0 (REV 10/98) SHERIFF’S TRAINING COORDINATOR The purpose of this order is to outline the duties and responsi bilities of the Communications Bureau Training Coordinator. I. General The training coordinator posit ion is assigned to monitor the pr ogress of the Communications Bureau trainees and the efficiency of the traini ng program. II. Responsibilities Regarding Trainees A. Schedule and assign trainees to Sheriff’s training officers. B. Monitor each trainee’s program through review of weekly and monthly evaluations throughout the durati on of their probationary perio d. C. Maintain and update training files. D. Act as liaison between trainees , training officers, and the training sergeant. III. Responsibilities Re garding Training Officers A. Report to the training sergeant the performance levels of th e training officers as trainers and evaluators: 1. Through monthly Sheriff’s training officer meetings. 2. Through verbal input from trainees. 3. Through trainees’ monthly evalua tions of Sheriff’s training officers. B. Confer with training officers regarding training matters and teaching techniques. C. Make recommendations to the training sergeant regarding trai ning officers’ performance. Communications Page 2 of 2 6/03.0 (REV 10/98) IV. Other Duties A. Coordination and scheduling o f training for the Sheriff’s tr aining officers and trainees in the form of a transfer list. B. Prepare and disseminate a week ly evaluation assignment list to all sergeants, bureau secretary, and the bureau commander. C. Track daily and weekly evaluat ions to ensure they are comple ted in a timely manner. D. Evaluate the Communications B ureau training program and reco mmend modifications to t he training sergeant. E. Prepare and disseminate a trai ning officers’ project list an d keep track of each assigned project. F. Prepare and disseminate an updated watch assignment list aft er scheduled transfers. G. Prepare and disseminate monthl y Sheriff’s training officer m eeting minutes. H. Coordinate, teach, and supervi se the Sheriff’s Basic Communi cations Academy. I. Coordinate radio procedure tr aining for outside agencies; i. e., planning units, parole agents, District Attorney units, etc. J. Assist the bureau commander and the administrative sergeant in the recruiting of dispatchers and Sher iff’s Service Representatives . 1. Coordinate, schedule, and supervi se a recruiting team compri sed of employees who prepare and pres ent recruiting speeches. 2. Maintain a list of names , addresses, and phone numbers of prospective employees to enter i nto a file for future recruitin g mail- outs. 3. Handle mail out of recruit i nformation when the announcement is opened to the public. K. Participate in the hiring pro cess which includes mail-out of letters of invitation, schedule interviews , and participate in the intervi ew process and selection. L. Other assignments as delegat ed by the training sergeant, adm inistrative sergeant, or bureau commander.
