Identification Bur eau Page 1 of 1 6 /02.0 (REV 1/07) Latent Fingerprints The purpose of this Order is to i nsure the uniform reporting an d handling of latent fingerprints. I. Documentation and Handling The following guidelines are to be followed in the handling and reporting of latent fingerprint lifts: A. Place the latent fingerprin t lift on a Latent Lift Informati on Card (Form 7417-035). B. Complete all information on the front of the card, describin g where the lift was located, the number(s) used to identify each lift and a dia gram of where the lift was located. C. Number the lift card in the s pace provided. If more than on e lift is placed on the card, use separate number s to identify each lift. D. Place Latent Lift card(s) int o an evidence envelope (Form 74 00-146). Complete all information on the front of the envelope. E. Complete a Property Recei pt/Report form (Form 7400-076A) and /or AFR Packing list. F. Attach the evidence envelope wit h the enclosed card(s) to th e Property Receipt/Report form and/or AFR Pa cking list and submit the pack age to the Identification Unit.
