Detective Division Page 1 of 2 6/01.0 (REV 1/90) EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES The purpose of this order is to establish procedures for the co ntrol and issuance of supplies and equipment. I. Equipment A. Each bureau commander shall be responsible for the proper ca re of permanent and temporary equipmen t assigned to their bureau. B. Division personnel shall be ne ither careless nor wasteful of equipment and/or supplies. II. Supplies – Central Stores and the Central Warehouse A. Each bureau secret ary shall be responsib le for ordering supp lies from Central Stores and the central warehouse for their respective b ureaus. B. The division secretary sha ll be responsible for approving/si gning and forwarding order forms to either C entral Stores or the central warehouse, and for checking and distributing the supplies to the proper bu reaus when received. C. Each bureau shall be respons ible for control and storage of its supplies and distribution to the pers onnel within each bureau. III. Special Purchase Requests – Services and Supplies Accounts A. The division secretary sha ll be responsible for preparing sp ecial purchase requests for items not obtainable through Central Stores or the central warehouse, and for maintaining the proper records for purposes of verifying and justif ying requested items. B. The division secretary is the designated division budget coo rdinator and must sign the special purchase request forms as such, indicatin g the cost center, account number, and account balance. Detective Division Page 2 of 2 6/01.0 (REV 1/90) C. The executive officer is res ponsible for the division budget and shall approve or disapprove all specia l purchase requests. If the cos t of the requested item(s) exceeds $500, t he chief of Investigative Serv ices also must approve the request. D. The division secretary shall be responsible for control and storage of these items and distribution to the requesting bureaus.
