Communications Page 1 of 1 5/04.0 (REV 04/08) Granting Requests for Code Seven The purpose of this Order is to p rovide guidelines for dispatch ers consistent with Field Services Operations Order 2/11 to be used in granting Code 7 re quests. I. General A. Code 7 will not be granted to more than 50 percent of the pa trol units at the same time who are assi gned to any one district. B. If there is an odd number of patrol units in a district, the 50 percent figure will be rounded to the lo wer number; i.e., 5 units x 50% = 2.5, therefore, two units will be a llowed Code 7. II. Priority Calls A. If necessary, Priority 5 and 9 calls may be held in order to allow an officer’s request for Code 7. C ode 7 will not be granted if an y priority one through priority four calls are p ending in the officer’s distri ct or if the pending call is in regard to a lif e-threatening situation in an adjoining district where no other units are available. B. Code 7 may be grant ed when a priority c all is pending provid ed the patrol supervisor on duty directs that the call be held. In this situ ation that information will be entered into t he call: “call held for (stat e reason) per (supervisor’s call sign) at (time).”
