4/08 ሺNEW 2/99ሻ POLITICAL ACTIVITY IN SHERIFF ’S DEPARTMENT UNIFORM THE PURPOSE OF THIS GENERAL ORDE R IS TO ESTABLISH POLICY GOVERN ING THE PARTICIPATION IN POLITICAL ACTIVITY WHILE IN THE OFFICIAL U NIFORM OF THE SACRAMENTO COUNTY SHERIFF ’S DEPARTMENT . I. General government code section 3206 states as follows: “No officer or employee of a local agency shall participate in political activities of any kind while in uniform.” To ensure compliance with this section, no employee of the sacr amento county sheriff’s department shall participate in any political activities, inclu ding but not limited to, appearing as a candidate or supporting a candidate for public office, eit her in person or in any visual media while wearing the official uniform or clearly identifiabl e official patch or badge of the sacramento county sheriff’s department.
