Application for higher bail
Purpose of the
order The purpose of this order is to ou tline the proced ures for soli citing a higher
bail than set forth in the uniform bail schedule.
General policy The following list describes the general policy regarding apply ing for a
higher bail than that set fort h in the uniform bail schedule.
A. Section 1269c PC permits a peace officer to solicit a judge to set a
higher bail than listed on the Uniform Bail Schedule if he/she feels the
bail set forth in the schedule is insufficient to guarantee the defendant's
appearance in court.
B. If the source of revenue to be used to post bond or bail is sus pected to
be the fruits of criminal ac tivity, the arresting officer shall request that a
motion to show source of bail be initiated per 1275 PC.

Procedure for
applying for higher bail The below procedure is to be followed.

request, follow the below listed steps.
1. Complete an “Examination of Sour ce of Bail” (PC 1275) declarati on
(forms are available in t he Main Jail Booking Area).
2. Complete a “Request for Bail E nhancement” (PC 1269c) declaratio n
(forms are available in t he Main Jail Booking Area).
3. Deliver both of these completed doc uments to the Pre-Trial Serv ices
personnel on duty at the jail. The on-call magistrate will be
contacted and the a
pplications will be r elated to the ma gistrate.
