BULLET RICOCHET IMPACT AREAS
The purpose of this order is to establish procedures for all pe rsonnel and inmate
trustees entering wit hin or exiting Range ar eas subject to poss ible bullet ricochet
impact. I. General
A. Linear areas forward of, and beyond, range shooting impact b erm
surfaces are subject to bullet ricochet intrusion.
B. Personnel shall not enter or re main in these designated area s except
under the following condi tions. Maximum safety must be consider ed
before exiting these areas:
1. When authorized by Range staff me mber(s). Authorization must be
obtained for each occurrence/ev ent or work assignment unless
designated otherwise by Range staff.
2. Entering Areas:
a. Observe and obey signs, fenc es, markers, and barriers.
b. Wear protective headgear (hard hat), safety glasses, and
ear/hearing protection at all times.
c. Stay away from berm areas a nd do not allow any portion of
the body to be exposed above the berm top.
3. Within Areas:
a. Follow procedures outlined in “ Entering Areas” as indicated
above.
b. If working in an area when firi ng is initiated, exit the are a or
seek covered protection immediately.
c. If inside a covered area when firing is initiated, remain in side
or exit the area when i t is safe to do so.

4. Exiting Areas:
a. Follow procedures outlined in “Entering Areas” as indicated
above.
b. Exit immediately if not in a covered area.
c. Do not return to the area unt il firing has stopped and it is
safe to return to assigned work.
C. Personal safety shall take pri ority over work assignments at all times. Any
injuries sustained within the c onfines of the Range facility sh all be
immediately reported to the Rangemaster or a member of the Rang e staff.
