ROUTING OF CASES TO THE DIS TRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE
The purpose of this order is to e stablish a procedure for routi ng case reports to the
District Attorney’s Office. I. Felony Adult Arrests
A. All felony adult arrest pack ages (including the arrest shee t, Department of
Justice form, rap sheet, and repo rt, if available) shall be ass embled,
logged, and carried to the District Attorney’s Office.
1. The District Attorney liaison (Records Officer) collects pap erwork
from the Main Jail each morni ng at 0600 hours, reports from
Records, and reports from the No rth Station, and assembles this
paperwork into arrest packages fo r the District Attorney’s Inta ke
officers.
2. Copies of the above paperwork are made and distributed to th e
individual bureaus responsible for the crime classifications.
3. These arrest packages are carried to the District Attorney’s Office
prior to 0830 hours each morning.
4. Complete reports must be sent to the District Attorney’s Off ice by
0900 hours the day following the day the arrest packages are
presented.
B. The individual bur eaus are responsible for ensuring that all arrests are
presented to the District Attorney’s Intake Division for specia l teams.
C. Time Frames
1. All arrests made prior to mi dnight must be submitted to the District
Attorney’s Intake Division prio r to 0830 hours the next mornin g and
verbally presented to the Inta ke Division at the bureau’s desi gnated
time during that day. Arrests made on Friday, Saturday, or pri or to
midnight on Sunday, must be submi tted to the Intake Division p rior
to 0830 hours Monday morning and verbally presented at the
bureau’s designated time on Mon day. Complete reports must reac h
the District Attorney’s Office 24 hours after arrest presentat ions or
the case will not be filed.

II. Youth Arrests and Warrant Requests
A. A complete copy of the case shall be placed in the Probation Department
receptacle in the Detective Divis ion. The Juvenile Hall liaison officer will
pick up and deliver the case to t he Juvenile Hall District Atto rney.
III. Misdemeanor Adult Arrests
A. Misdemeanor arrest packages ( including the arrest sheet, Dep artment of
Justice form, report, and rap s heet or DMV print out if the cha rges relate to
the Vehicle Code) are to be a ssembled, logged, and carried to t he District
Attorney’s Office.
1. The District Attorney liaison (Records Officer) collects pap erwork
from the Main Jail at 0600 hours each morning, reports from
Records, and reports from the No rth Station, and assembles this
paperwork into arrest packages to be carried to the District Attorney’s Intake Officer.
IV. Warrant Requests – Adults
A. Felony Warrant Requests
1. Felony warrant request packages are assembled and submitted to
the District Attorney’s Intake Division (carried to the Distri ct
Attorney’s Office by the investi gating officer or by the Distr ict
Attorney liaison) and verbally p resented to the Intake Divisio n.
B. Misdemeanor warrant request pa ckages (including the entire r eport, rap
sheet, and a District Attorney Cas e Summary sheet) are assembl ed and
given to the District Attorney liaison who logs the warrant re quest and
carries it to the District Attorney’s Intake Division. Note : Misdemeanor
warrant requests are n ot verbally presented.
V. Additional Investigation Reports
A. Detectives sending additiona l investigation reports to the District
Attorney’s main office or Juv enile Hall, separate from the or iginal report,
shall attach a District Attor ney’s route slip bearing the def endant’s name
and the charge to the report and give it to the District Atto rney liaison to
carry to the District Attorney’s Office.
VI. Supplemental Investigation Requests by the District Attorne y
A. Once the supplemental inves tigation request is completed, th e detective
shall attach a District Attor ney route slip to the reports and /or answers
relating to the supplemental r equests and give the package to the District
Attorney liaison to carry to the District Attorney’s Office.
