Training Page 1 of 2 4/03.0 (REV 3/91) ASSISTANT RANGEMASTE R (MAINTENANCE) The purpose of this order is to d escribe the duties of the Assi stant Rangemaster (Maintenance). I. Inmate Supervision A. Provides direct supervision of inmate workers assigned to th e Range on a regular basis, as well as those in termittent inmate workers ass igned to the Range under Work Release or Work Project programs. B. Coordinates assignment of RCCC inmates to the Range facility work crew by maintaining frequent/daily contact with RCCC personnel. C. Ensures adherence to Range po licy and RCCC rule s and policie s by inmate workers. Assumes responsib ility for the welfare and safe ty of inmates while assigned to the Range work crew. II. Facility Maintenance A. Develops and supervises the ex ecution of plans for improveme nts in Range facilities. B. Coordinates all construction projects to meet or exceed Coun ty codes. C. Initiates purchases of necessary supplies and materials for the continued maintenance and development of Range facilities. D. Surveys and inventories supplie s, including ammunition and t eargas used in training and qualifications. E. Maintains records of purchas es and expedites all billing of supplies, materials, and outside repair of equipment. F. Maintains updated records on utilities and develops maps of utilities on the Range property to facilitate cons truction, repairs, or modifica tions. III. Fiscal A. Coordinates with the division budget coordinator all billing s for supplies for the facility. Training Page 2 of 2 4/03.0 (REV 3/91) IV. Facility Design and Construction A. Develops construction designs and plans for facility improve ments and training programs. B. Retains copies of pla ns for future reference. C. Maintains hardcopy records of qualifications by deputies and others, and provides long term storage of Range records. V. Safety A. Routinely surveys the Range fa cility for safety hazards and corrects deficiencies. B. Institutes safety measures, r eports hazards, and proposes co rrections. VI. Coordination A. Coordinates maintenance and op erational activities with the Department of Public Works and related agencies and utilities. VII. Training A. Provides instruction in vari ous subjects relating to the use of firearms to academy and in-service classes. B. Assists in the development and construction of courses of fi re for training and qualification. C. Provides detailed written de scriptions of training and quali fication courses for future reference. D. Conducts firearms qualificatio ns and ensures compliance with the rules of firearms safety and Range policy.
