Vehicle and Supply Mainte nance and Replacement
The purpose of this Order is to d escribe the care, maintenance and replacement of
Crime Scene Investigation vehi cles, equipment and supplies.
I. Responsibilities
Each Crime Scene Investigations Officer is responsible for insp ecting their issued
equipment and assigned vehicles r egularly to determine its cond ition, and
whether it needs repair. It is al so each Officer’s responsibil ity to maintain and
replace supplies in their assigned vehicles as needed.
II. Equipment Maintenance
A. Vehicles will be turned in to the County Garage after the “d ue for service”
mileage written on the sticke r near the window or dashboard is reached.
Vehicles will also be turned in when in need of repair. This w ill be done by
doing the following:
1. Fill out a Vehicle Trouble Repo rt (Form DGS 059) noting serv ice
due and/or any mai ntenance needed.
2. Turn in the top copy of t he request and the keys to the Coun ty
Garage Office, and park the vehicl e downstairs in the garage.
3. Turn in the bottom copy to t he Identificati on Bureau Supervi sor.
B. Radios, vehicle computers and cell phones will be turned in to the
Identification Bur eau Supervisor by doing the following:
1. Portable radios and cell phon es: Fill out a radio/MDT repai r slip
(form ) and submit it along with the radio or cell phone to the
Supervisor. The Supervisor will is sue a temporary replacement
radio or cell phone until the issued one is repaired.
2. Vehicle radios and computers: Fill out a radio/MDT repair s lip (form
) and submit it along with the ke ys to the County Garage office , and
park the vehicle downstairs in the garage noting the specific
operational problem.
3. Turn in a copy of the repair slip to the Identification Bure au
Supervisor.

crime scene supplies in their assigned vehicle. Vehicles will be washed
and cleaned of garbage by the end o f the Officer’s work week.
D. Replacement supplies for the Cr ime Scene Investigation Unit will be
maintained in the Supply Room and cabinets in the C.S.I. Office . The
supply room and C.S.I. Office will be kept locked at all times when not in
use. Each Officer will be issued keys to the rooms by the Iden tification
Bureau Supervisor. Any supply needs should be r eported by fill ing out a
“Supply Order” I.D.C. Located on the C.S.I. Office computers, a nd
submitted to the Identific ation Bureau Supervisor.
1. C.S.I. Bureau supplies will NO T be issued to other departmen t
members without permission from the Identific ation Bureau
Supervisor or Div ision Commander.
