Identification Bur eau Page 1 of 1 3 /03.0 (REV 1/07) Assignment of Mailboxes, Work Lockers, Cellular Telephones and Email Addresses The purpose of this Order is to o utline the process for the ass ignment and maintenance of mailboxes, work lockers, ce llular telephones and Email addre sses to a new Crime Scene Investigations Officer in the Identification Bureau. I. Assignments When and Officer is assigned to the Crime Scene Investigations Unit, the Supervisor will issue the Officer a personal cellular telephone with voice mail. The Supervisor will also assign the Officer a mailbox and a work locker, which will be in the Crime Scene Investigations Office. The Super visor will give the Officer an Email address and enable the Officer to access it through the computer s located on the C rime Scene Investigations Office. II. Maintenance A. Mailboxes are assigned for di spersal of orders, memos, subpo enas and messages. Officers will not allow material to accumulate in ma ilboxes, and will check their mailboxes each workday. B. Work lockers are assigned for storage of personal equipment, such as dusting kits, briefcases and other personal materials. Officer s will NOT keep latent print, photo evidence or any other evidence to be b ooked in their personal lockers. C. Cellular Phones with voice ma il are issued for communication between victims and/or other Officers in the field as necessary. Cellu lar phones are to be used for work calls only . Personal calls will be limited to emergency use only. Voice mail will be ch ecked every workday for stored messages. Officers will carry their issued ce ll phones during their work shift. D. Email addresses are assigned fo r dispersal of orders, memos, messages and any other interdepartmental c ommunication and information n eeded to be disseminated quickly by o ther divisions. Email will be c hecked each workday. Internet usage will be k ept to business purposes only .
