IN-SERVICE TRAINING COORDINATOR FOR SUPERVISORS, MANAGEMENT,
AND NON-SWORN
The purpose of this order is to describe the duties and respons ibilities of the coordinator
for in-service training of super visors, managers, and non-sworn personnel.
I. General
Under the direct supervision o f the administrative sergeant, th e coordinator is
responsible for determining the training needs and providing ne eded training for
employees at the supervisory or management level, as well as fo r non-sworn
personnel of all ranks. Specific d uties and responsibilities in clude the following:
A. Determine the training needs of supervisors, managers, and n on-sworn
personnel through the use of needs assessments and other method ology
to include the following:
1. Legal mandates. 2. New technology. 3. Needs of the department.
B. Monitor closely new legisla tion and mandates by the Commissi on on
Peace Officers’ Standards and Trai ning (POST) with respect to m andated
training.
C. Coordinate activities with PO ST, the County training office, other involved
agencies, and other staff withi n the Training Division.
D. Implement the sele cted training program
1. Obtain instructors. 2. Arrange for facilities. 3. Arrange for required training materials. 4. Obtain POST or other approval as required.
5. Monitor the class.

6. Develop evaluations and critique instruments.
7. Schedule students. 8. Complete and maintain nec essary class and student records.
E. Act as the training consul tant for supervisory, management, and non-
sworn personnel.
F. Function as a background invest igator for reserve officer ca ndidates.
