Corrections, Work Release, SWP 3/01.0 (Rev 5/01) Sheriff’s Work Project Administrative Duties and Responsibilities Overview Purpose of Order The purpose of this Order is t o outline the dut ies and responsi bilities of the personnel assigned to the admini strative function of the Work P roject Program. The Administrative Sergeant is back-up supervisor to other faci lity ser geants and mana gement staff. Participant/ applicant matters The Administrative Sergean t is responsible for:  Reviewing appeal letters from app licants/participants, that hav e been removed from, or denied part icipation on Work Project.  Reviewing and evaluating applican ts turned away from the Work P roject Program.  Monitoring the volume of applican ts entering the facility for W ork Project interviews.  Reviewin g strai ght time conversions to Work Pro ject. Personnel matters The Administrative Sergeant is r esponsible for overseeing the W ork Project interview area until interviews are completed, a nd assisting wi th any problem solving issues in that area. The Administrative Sergeant will e nsure the facility front coun ter is staffed daily with two deputies, and s upervises these deputies. The Administrative Sergeant will ensure the daily schedule is c ompleted in the absence of the Booking Office Supervisor. The Administrative Sergeant revi ews timesheets and manages vaca tion balances for staff. The Administrative Sergeant reviews and monitors time off reque sts for assi gned staff. Meeting attendance The Administrative Sergeant is r esponsible for attending the fo llowing meetings:  Monthly training managers  Bi-weekl y transfe r Facilities maintenance The Administrative Sergeant cont acts facilities maintenance and general contractors as needed to main tain the Work Release Facilit y. Technical support The Administrative Sergeant is t he division contact to Technica l Services Division for purchasin g and re pairing com puterand tele phone e quipment. Corrections, Work Release , SWP 3 3/01.0 (Rev 5/01) Booking Office Supervisor General The Booking Office Supervisor is responsible for supervising th e day-to- day administrative operations of the Work Project Program. The Booking Office Su pervisor’s duties and res ponsibilities incl ude the followin g. Participant matters The Booking Officer Supervisor i s responsible for supervising t he intake, booking and interviewing functions of participants applying for , and on the Work Pro ject Pro gram. Personnel matters The Booking Office Supervisor is responsible for personnel duty assignments and work schedules of the personnel assigned to the administrative duties of this Division. The Booking Office Supervisor is responsible for personnel eval uations in com pliance with the Gener al Orders of the De partment. Statistics The Booking Office Supervisor is responsible for gathering stat istical data regardin g the fluctuations in the partici pant counts. Recommendation The Booking Office Supervisor i s responsible for making recomme ndations to the Facilit y Commander re gardin g partici pant counts, as a ppropriate. Corrections, Work Release , SWP 4 3/01.0 (Rev 5/01) Intake Officer General During business hours the front counter/lobby will be staffed b y an armed deputy sheriff. This de puty is desi gnated the Intake Officer. Duties and Responsibilities The Intake Officer is responsible for:  Providing security for the lobby a nd administrative areas.  Providing direction to participan ts working at the facility.  Will evaluate applicants for safety and security  Other duties as required under the direction of the Booking Off ice Supervisor or Administrative Ser geant. Corrections, Work Release , SWP 5 3/01.0 (Rev 5/01) Interviewing Officers General Interviewing officers accept , deny, assign and classify subject s referred by the courts to partici pate on Sheriff’s Work Pro gram. Initial interview The Interviewing Officers shall perform an interview with the s ubjects recommended by the courts for Sher iff’s Work Program determinin g:  Medical fitness  Criminal justice history  Attitude toward the program. Ensure that any subject intervie wing for Sheriff’s Work Program has no active warrants. In the event of an active warrant, the office r will review and serve the warrant or pur sue the proper procedure. Using the above criteria, accept or deny a subject to the Sheri ff’s Work Program. Participants accepted to SWP The Interviewing Officers shall:  Provide a written copy of the Sheri ff’s Work Program rules and regulations to all participan ts accepted onto the program  Explain orally any Sheriff’s Work P roject rule or regulation no t understood by a participant.  Ensure said rules and regulat ions are signed by both participan t and off
