Training Page 1 of 3 3/01.0 (REV 3/91) POST IN-SERVICE TRAINING COORDINATOR The purpose of this order is to describe the duties and respons ibilities of the POST in- service training coordinator. I. General The POST in-service training coordinator works under the direct supervision of the administrative sergeant. Spec ific duties and responsibiliti es include: A. Act as liaison between the S heriff’s Department and the Comm ission on Peace Officers’ Standards and Training. 1. Monitor legislative-mandated training and develop curriculum in compliance with mandates. 2. Maintain compliance wi th POST-mandated training. 3. Develop and implement mandated training presentations to in- service personnel. 4. Evaluate and i dentify department traini ng needs by means of an annual needs assessment. 5. Develop course curriculum for instruction to in-service pers onnel. 6. Obtain course certification to comply with POST standards. B. Coordinate presentation of tr aining curriculum to in-service personnel including, but not limited to: 1. Recruiting qualified instru ctors to present training. 2. Arrange for facilities. 3. Obtain required training materials. 4. Obtain POST or other approval, as required 5. Monitor the class. Training Page 2 of 3 3/01.0 (REV 3/91) 6. Develop evaluations and critique forms. 7. Schedule students. 8. Complete and maintain nec essary class and student records. C. Act as department liaison with the County training office an d divisional training managers. 1. Obtain and disseminate class ann ouncements offered through t he County training office, other law enforcement agencies, and rel ated educational institutions. 2. Work closely with department training m anagers in advising t hem of training offered by Sacramento County. 3. Coordinate scheduling of count y training with Sheriff’s pers onnel. D. Act as liaison between the S heriff’s Department and POST reg arding POST certificates. 1. Evaluate applications for r equired experienc e, training, and education for requested POST certificates. 2. Submit approved applications to POST with request for issuan ce of certificates. 3. Maintain records of submitted applications. E. Responsible for preparation of pay incentive forms for depar tment employees. 1. Evaluate requests from pers onnel and make recommendations fo r pay incentives. 2. Submit necessary documents to the Administrative Division, personnel section. F. Act as training consultant fo r Patrol, Detective Division, C ivil, Court Security, Narcotics/Gangs, Techni cal Services, and the Administ rative Division 1. Assist division managers wit h training needs and requests. 2. Assist in the development o f specialized training based upon division needs. Training Page 3 of 3 3/01.0 (REV 3/91) 3. Obtain POST certification fo r training courses developed by divisions for their personnel. 4. Maintain records of completed training. G. Function as a background invest igator for reserve officer ca ndidates.
