Detective Division Page 1 of 3 3/01.0 (REV 2/97) MAJOR CASE OPERATIONAL OUTLINES The purpose of this order is to e stablish timely and written no tification to appropriate entities and concerned indivi duals of major operations. I. General The focus of this order includes search warrants, major arrests , arrest warrants, significant joint operations, outside agencies working on major cases within this agency’s jurisdiction, and other s uch operations which require notification to Field Services and/or Centralized Inve stigation commanders and their subordinates, the Communications Center, and affected chief deputies of conce rned service areas when such an operation is of a significant magnitude and warrants bringing the operation to their attenti on. It shall be the responsibilit y of bureau commanders to ensure the above de scribed notifications are effe cted. II. Joint Operations A. Detectives working joint vent ures such as the Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force may be required to make notificat ion to other agencies in whose jurisdiction they might be work ing on particular operations. De tectives working within such bureaus/det ails should make themselves awar e of the orders and guidelines of those particular agencies and to ident ify those sections and persons to be notif ied within each j urisdiction. III. Operational Outlines A. Operational outli nes may be generated and distributed in two ways. The CLETS terminal may be used to s end an administrative message to the respective agency’s communicati ons center or areas designated b y the mnemonic designator of the agency to be notified with the opera tion particulars. Copies may then be made and distributed to concern ed individuals including capt ains and chief deputies. B. An operational out line may be handwritt en or typed on a depa rtment Operational Outline form (see A ppendix A) including the particu lars of the operation. Copies shall be made and distributed to concerned in dividuals. Detective Division Page 2 of 3 3/01.0 (REV 2/97) C. The content of the operational outline shall include the fol lowing, as applicable: 1. Radio channel to be used. 2. Date and time of operation. 3. Location of the operat ion or general area. 4. Suspect sought, if known. 5. Suspect vehicle, if known. 6. Command post location, if used. 7. Particular officers and the respective agencies’ call number s. 8. Any additional comments such as areas of hazard which might be important to participating units. 9. Originator of the operational outline, their bureau, and pho ne number. 10.
