Minimum training standards Purpose of the order The purpose of this operations ord er is to identify the standar d training courses deemed essential for officers assi gned to the Im pact Division. General policy The following list describes the general policy regarding arran ging training for the Impact Division employees. A. Arranging for the training of personnel assigned to the Impact Division is a basic administrative and supervisory responsibility. B. The training provided to officers will be designed around their specialized assignments within the division. C. The training identified establi shes minimums and priorities. D. Limitations on training are not e stablished by this operations order. E. No personnel assigned to the Imp act Division shall schedule the mselves or other officers to attend any s chools without first contactin g and receivin g approval from the Division Commander and/or desi gnee. Administrative Sergeant Duties The duties of the Administrativ e Sergeant shall be the responsi bility of a Sergeant assigned to the administ rative office of the Impact Di vision. The Administrative Serg eant will oversee and coordinate the schedul ing of trainin g for personnel with the Trainin g Coordinator. Training Coordinator Duties It shall be the responsibility of the Training Coordinator to s chedule officers, assigned to the Impact Division, to attend training classes dee med essential. The Training Coordinator will keep and maintain officer’s train ing records, and make arrangements for any other training necessary for pers onnel assi gned to the Division. Continued on next page Page 1 3/01 (REV 02/19) Minimum training standards, Continued Administrative Sergeant’s responsibilities regarding training It shall be the responsibility of t he Administrative Sergeant t o insure the Training Coordinator is made awa re of specialized training requ irements for each member of the Division. Any officer within the Division requesting unsche duled training will take the request to the Administrative Sergeant. The Administrative Sergeant will evaluate the request and, if a pproved, take the re quest to the Trainin g Mana gerfor final a pproval and schedulin g. Officer’s responsibilities regarding trainin g Any officer within the Division r equesting unscheduled training will take the request to the Administrative Sergeant. Required training Officers assigned to the Impact Div ision have investigative respo nsibilities related to the appr ehension of narcotic offenders, investigatio ns of clandestine drug labs, and ba sic gang investigations. A. These responsibilities are sur veillance intensive and rely heav ily on the use of informants. B. Minimum training requirements for all officers assigned as inve stigators in the Impact Division shall include but not limited to the fol lowing courses:  Basic Narcotics Inves tigations (ICI)-80 hours  Basic Gang Investigation (ICI)-80 hours C. Investigators assigned to invest igate and process clandestine d rug labs will also receive the following training:  Clandestine Laborator y Investigations-40 hours  Clandestine Lab Safet y Certificatio n-40 hours Page 2 3/01 (REV 02/19)
