Identification Bur eau Page 1 of 1 2 /19.0 (REV 1/07) Elimination Prints The purpose of this order is to o utline procedures for obtainin g fingerprints from persons for the purpose of eliminating la tent prints found during the c ourse of a criminal investigation. I. Have the person complete an information sheet. If known, wr ite the case number on the top of the sheet or elimination card. II. Run a name check and obtain a fingerprint number. Write th e number on the information sheet or elimination card. III. Obtain fingerprints on a Sa cramento Sheriff Department Eli mination Print card (Form 7400-147 or Form 7400-062) and obtain palm prints on a Pa lm card (7400-010). If latent prints on th e case make it necessary, ma jor case prints (all ridge areas on the surface o f hands and palms) will be taken. IV. Take a photograph only if r equested by the investigator. V. Place the name and fingerprin t number on the SSD fingerprint card and any other cards. VI. Place all cards into an evidence envelope (Form 7400-146). Complete all information on the front of the envelope. VII. Complete a Property Recei pt/Report Form (Form 7400-076A) a nd/or AFR Packing list. VIII. Attach the evidence envelop e with the enclosed card(s) to the Property Receipt/Report form and/or AFR Pa cking list and submit the pack age to the Identification Unit for filing a fter the latent print compariso ns have been completed.
