Field Services Page 1 of 3 02/18 (REV 1/04) Watch Summary Log The purpose of this order is to outline the procedures for crea ting and maintaining a watch summary log. I. General A watch summary log shall be cr eated and maintained by each Fie ld Services Division. The watch summary log shall be used to record all ma jor events and felony arrests made during each watch. II. Procedure A. Patrol officers shall be res ponsible for making available th e information necessary for completion of the watch summary to the division s ecretary or the division commander’s designee. 1. The information will be in a fo rmat dictated by the division commander (i.e., green sheets, face sheets, etc.). B. A watch summary shall contain he following information: 1. Heading: a. Day And Date b. Watch And Team c. Supervisors Working (Lts. And Sgts.) d. Number Of One Man Units e. Number Of Two Man Units C. Events: 1. Zone 2. Time Field Services Page 2 of 3 02/18 (REV 1/04) 3. Full Event Number 4. Type Of Event 5. Report Number (If Applicable) 6. Unit Number(s) 7. Officer’s Name(s) 8. Location 9. Victim(S) And/Or Reporting Person(s) 10. Suspect(s) And/Or Description Of 11. Synopsis Of Event D. Any discrepancies/late entries will gener ated as an addendum using the actual date of the incident. E. The chief deputy of field se rvices will determine disseminat ion of the watch summary, other than those listed below. III. Type Of Incidents Requiring Entries A. All Deaths B. Felony Assaults, Kidnapping And Sexual Assaults C. Child Abuse Or Neglect Cases D. Robbery Cases E. Felony Arrests F. All 148 P.C. Arrests G. Racial Incidents/Hate Crimes H. Strikes I. Hazmat: Hazardous Materials Incidents Field Services Page 3 of 3 02/18 (REV 1/04) IV. Entries Not To Be Included A. Under certain situations, copies of reports are to be made f or division commanders, but not entries are made into the watch summary. T hese include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Officer-involved vehicle accidents 2. Reports involving department personnel 3. Other reports that need conf idential treatment, at the discr etion of a field supervisor. V. Distribution Distribution of the division wa tch summary will include, but no t be limited to: A. The Chief Deputy Of Field Services B. Division Commander C. Assistant Division Commanders D. Division Watch Commanders E. Division Sergeants F. Division Detectives G. Division Crime Analyst
