EMPLOYEES – SHERI FF’S DEPARTMENT
The purpose of this Order is to o utline Identification Section requirements for processing
Sheriff’s Department employees. I. General
Applicants shall have the appropr iate form issued by the Sherif f’s Department
Administrative Division indica ting the applicant’s employment s tatus for issuance
of identification cards and passes.
II. Procedures
ID Section personnel shall proc ess each Sheriff’s Department e mployee as
follows:
A. Have the applicant fill out the information sheet.
B. Run record and warrant checks as required. Obtain a fingerpr int number
and enter the number on t he information sheet.
C. Take a file photo. Place t he fingerprint number on two Depar tment of
Justice application cards. If the employee is to be a sworn mem ber, obtain
an additional set of prints and pl ace them on a Federal Bureau of
Investigation card.
D. Enter the required informati on into the KPF via the CRT term inal.
E. Enter the required informa tion on all fingerprint cards.
1. Attach one DOJ card to the in formation sheet and route it to
Records for filing.
2. Staple the remaining card s together (one DOJ and one FBI, if
appropriate) and place them in th e civil service basket for rou ting
pending a warrant for t he required fees.
F. Upon receipt of a County warrant from Fiscal Affairs, attach it to the
fingerprint card(s) and mail to the Department of Justice.

G. Issue the Sheriff’s Department ID as outlined in Operations Orders 2/16.0
and 2/18.0. Note : Sworn personnel required to attend the recruit academy
will receive their ID cards upon graduation.
