CORRECTIONAL SERVICES Page 1 of 1 2/11 (REV 7/07) MJ/RCCC OPERATIONS ORDER Communications Equipment The purpose of this Order is to outline procedures for using co mmunications systems and equipment at the Main Jail and the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center (RCCC). I. General Information A. The information contained in this order is intended to suppl ement, not supersede, existing departmental o rders regarding the use of Sh eriff’s Department communications equipment. B. Any person using communicati on equipment or terminals shall maintain professional discipline. The co mmunications are to be brief an d to the point. The use of profane langua ge or risqué comments is forbi dden. C. Unless communications equipm ent is personally issued to an e mployee, the item shall not be removed from its designated facility or work station without supervisor approval. Repa irs and replacements of equipm ent shall be coordinated by designated staff at the Main Jail and RCCC . D. The radio system utilized by t he Sheriff’s Department has se veral frequencies assigned by the FCC an d has the ability to interope rate with many different agencies. 1. Each facility has been authoriz ed the use of one (1) radio c hannel. 2. Custody staff shall not purposely “cover” or “walk” on anoth er operator’s radio transmission. E. Some vehicles assigned to the Main Jail or RCCC may be equipped with radios and/or computers. Radio and computer terminal transmiss ions between custody staff and other d ivisions are to be limited to business related information inquiries. F. Custody staff transporting pr isoners to another location sha ll advise dispatch of his/her status, uni t identifier, number of prisoner s, destination, and beginning and en ding mileage.
