INSTRUCTOR EVALUATION
The purpose of this order is to d escribe the procedure for eval uation of instructors at the
Sheriff’s Training Academy. I. General
Each instructor is evaluated by the recruits at the conclusion of his/her block of
instruction.
A. At the beginning of each academ y training program, a recrui t will be
selected as the evaluation moni tor. The evaluation monitor pe rforms the
following duties:
1. Maintains an adequate classroom supply of evaluation forms ( see
Appendix A).
2. Ensures that each recruit e valuates each instructor.
3. Delivers the completed eval uation forms to the duty office.
B. The instructor evaluations a re used by the academy staff to make
determinations in t he following areas:
1. Does the instructor put the c ourse material across in an int eresting
way?
2. Was there considerable agreement between the announced
objectives of the course and what was actually taught?
3. Did the instructor demonstrat e a depth of understanding in t he
subject area?
4. Did the instructor use a suit able variety of teaching materi als?
5. If possible, would you take a course in this subject matter again?
6. If possible, would you take a course from this instructor ag ain?
7. How adequate are the number of hours in this subject matter?

C. Responses obtained from the in structor evaluation forms wil l be
summarized. An evaluation diges t for each instructor will be filed in the
duty office.
D. A staff officer will complete t he instructor evaluation dige st and compose a
letter of appreciation to be s ent to each instructor. The inst ructor
evaluation forms completed by t he recruits also will be forwar ded to the
instructor.
