NORTH DETECTIVE BUREAU
The purpose of this order is to outline the duties and responsi bilities of the North
Detective Bureau. I. General
The North Detective Bureau whic h is comprised of the Burglary Detail and the
Metro Detail investigates crime s that occur north of the Ameri can River (Districts
One through Four). II. Responsibilities
A. The Burglary Detail is respons ible for the investigation and apprehension
of subjects responsible for the following offenses:
1. Entry into structures and v ehicles specified in Section 459 PC with
the intent to commit a theft.
2. Offenses fitting the definitio n of Section 496 PC (Receiving Stolen
Property) when the property is stol en from a burglary offense.
3. The recovery of stolen proper ty and its return to the rightf ul owner.
B. The Metro Detail is responsible for investigation of the fol lowing offenses:
1. All misdemeanor offenses with t he exception of thefts, narco tic
offenses, sexually motivated offenses, check and credit card
offenses, low priority vandalism , and those cases defined under
Section 653m PC (harassing /threatening phone calls).
