Emergency Evacuations
The purpose of this Order is to outline the procedures to be fo llowed when
evacuating a Security Service s Bureau contracted facility.
I. General
Security Services Bureau pers onnel shall be familiar with the
emergency evacuation procedures fo r the facility to which perso nnel is
assigned. Security Services Bureau personnel shall not be
responsible for any facility emer gency evacuation procedure and shall
not manage or oversee an evacuation.
II. Procedure
During in evacuation Security Services Bureau personnel:
A. Shall immediately notify the on-duty Field Sergeant.
B. When necessary, will request assi stance from appropriate out side
agencies.
C. Shall provide frequent updates to Security Services Bureau C entral
Control.
D. When necessary, will provide updated information to outside
agencies responding to the scene.
E. When possible, will ensure t hat all employees, clients, and visitors
are out of the facility.
F. Shall ensure that emergency response vehicles have appropria te
access to the facility.
G. Shall ensure that no person enters the facility without prop er
authority.
H. When possible, will provide se curity for the employee stagin g area.

III. Field Sergeant Response
The responding Security Services Bureau Field Sergeant is the s cene
commander unless otherwise reli eved by appropriate emergency
responders. The Field Sergeant: A. Shall respond to the sc ene as soon as possible.
B. Shall monitor the radio and provide dire ction to Security Se rvices
Bureau personnel at the scene.
C. Shall direct Security Servic es Bureau resources consistent w ith
Department policy.
D. Shall make notifications c onsistent with department General Order
7/04.
E. May consider the need for the Incident Command System includ ing
the establishment of a comm and post and staging areas for
emergency responders.
