ENTRY TO COMMUNICATIONS CENTER
The purpose of this order is to o utline restrictions and the pr ocedure for entry to the
Communications Center. I. Policy
The Sheriff’s Communications Cente r is a vital segment of the d epartment. Any
distraction presented to pers onnel on duty great ly reduces the effectiveness of
the center. Therefore, a str ict security shall be adhered to; h owever, it is not the
intent of the policy to prevent all department personnel from e ntry to the
Communications Center.
II. Non-Restricted Entry
A. Certain persons are exempt from any restrictions:
1. Sheriff, Undersheriff, and staff 2. Chief deputies and division commanders 3. Patrol watch commanders 4. Media officers and Media Relations office staff
5. Technical Services Divis ion administrative staff
6. Maintenance services
III. Restricted Entry
A. Other individuals, including department personnel, may enter
Communications to conduct official business. Visits for persona l purposes
shall be discouraged.
B. The watch supervisor or desi gnee shall monitor all entries.

IV. Entry Procedure
A. A telephone and camera are mo unted directly outside the door leading
into the Communications Center . The camera and phone provide
Communications personnel with vi sual and audio contact with per sons
desiring entry.
B. Communications personnel shall attempt to determine by visua l means if
the person is an employee or other authorized person.
C. Communications personnel sha ll contact the watch supervisor if unable to
visually identify the individu al to determine if entry is appli cable.
