Setup and Staffing of the Departm ent Emergency Operations Cente r (DEOC) and
Joint Emergency Operations Center (JEOC)
The purpose of this General Order i s to set forth policy guidel ines pertaining to the
setup and staffing of the Departm ent Emergency Operations Cente r (DEOC) and the
Joint Emergency Operations Center (JEOC). I. Assignment of Responsibilities
A. In the event of a local, sta te, or national emergency requir ing the
activation of the Sacramento Sher iff’s DEOC at 711 G Street, 1st floor
conference room, and/or the JEOC, c urrently at La Sierra High S chool, the
following personnel will be responsi ble for the duties listed.
1. The County OES Coor dinator will ensure the timely setup and
activation of the JEOC when necessary.
2. The Sheriff’s Department Techni cal Services Division will pr epare
the Sheriff’s DEOC at 711 G Street as directed.
3. The following personnel shall be assigned as EOC Commanders as
indicated. EOC Commanders are responsible for assigning the
staff that will work under their command.
a. The dayshift and nightshift C ommanders for the JEOC will
be Chief Deputies as assigne d by the Undersheriff.
b. The dayshift and nightshift C ommanders for the DEOC will
be Sheriff’s Captains as a ssigned by the Undersheriff or
his/her designee.
4. The Assistants to the Chiefs o f Contract and Regional Servic es and
Field and Investigative Servic es shall maintain copies of the E OC
rosters, periodically working with the EOC Co mmanders to update
them as needed.
