SHERIFF'S EXECUTIVE STAFF
THE PURPOSE OF THIS ORDER IS TO DEFINE THE SHERIFF 'S EXECUTIVE STAFF AND TO O UTLINE ITS DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES .
I. ORGANIZATION
THE SHERIFF 'S EXECUTIVE STAFF SHALL BE C HAIRED BY THE SHERIFF OR , IN HIS/HER ABSENCE , THE
UNDERSHERIFF AND SHALL INCLUDE :
THE CHIEF DEPUTY FOR PATROL SERVICES
THE CHIEF DEPUTY FOR I NVESTIGATIVE SERVICES
THE CHIEF DEPUTY FOR C ORRECTIONAL SERVICES
THE CHIEF DEPUTY FOR SPECIAL SERVICES
THE CHIEF DEPUTY FOR COURT SERVICES
THE COMMANDER OF STAFF SERVICES
II. PURPOSE
THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE STAFF IS TO ACT AS A DECISION ‐MAKING EXECUTIVE BOARD IN THE
PLANNING AND PROCESS FOR ACHIEVING THE DEPARTMENT 'S LONG‐RANGE GOALS .
THE STAFF SHALL SERVE AS AN ADJU NCT TO THE SHERIFF FOR THE PURP OSE OF PROVIDING HIM /HER WITH
ANALYSES AND RECOMMENDATIONS RELATIVE TO DEPARTMENT POLICIES , OBJECTIVES , DIRECTION AND
METHODS.
III. RESPONSIBILITIES
THE STAFF SHALL :
A. BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ACHIEVING THE DEPARTMENT 'S GOALS AS STATED IN THE "SHERIFF'S
DEPARTMENT MISSION " STATEMENT , AND IT SHALL MAKE DECISIONS NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE
THESE GOALS .
B. REVIEW ALL PROPOSALS FOR NEW PROGRAMS AND /OR MAJOR CHANGES TO EXISTING PROGRAMS
TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION ASPECT S OF SUCH PROGRAMS AS THEY AFFE CT THE OPERATION OF
THE SHERIFF 'S DEPARTMENT AND OTHER COUNTY DEPARTMENTS . RECOMMENDED PRIORITIES
SHALL BE ESTABLISHED AS NECESSARY .
C. REVIEW ALL PROPOSALS FOR SPACE A LLOCATION WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT .
D. REVIEW PROPOSED REALLOCATIONS , TRANSFERS AND /OR PROMOTIONS OF DEPARTMENTAL

E. REVIEW ALL PROPOSED CHANGES O R ADDITIONS TO DEPARTMENT
POLICIES.
F. DEVISE AND IMPLEMENT METHODS FOR PROMOTING COORDINATION AND COO PERATION BETWEEN
VARIOUS DEPARTMENTAL UNITS .
G. SOLICIT PARTICIPATION BY ALL INDI VIDUALS AND UNITS OF THE DEPAR TMENT IN THE CONTINUING
EXAMINATION OF EXISTING AND PROPOSED PROGRAMS .
IV. METHODS
A. THE STAFF SHOULD MEET WEEKLY AT A TIME AND PLACE DESIGNATED BY THE UNDERSHERIFF .
B. ATTENDANCE
1. ATTENDANCE AT STAFF MEETINGS SHA LL CONSIST OF THE STAFF MEMBERS .
2. MEMBERS MAY BE AUTHORIZED BY THE CHAIRPERSON TO HAVE PERSONS IN ATTENDANCE
FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING SPECIALIZED INFORMATION ON A PARTI CULAR MATTER
UNDER CONSIDERATION .
C. THE DEPARTMENT SECRETARY SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR AGENDAS AND M INUTES.
