Detective Division Page 1 of 1 1/14.0 (REV 4/97) CASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM/ASSIGNMENT PRIORITIES The purpose of this order is to d efine priorities for the assig nment of cases for follow up investigation. I. Priority One A. The first priority of cases a ssigned shall be those cases, f elony and misdemeanor, which in the opini on of the bureau commander, will lead to an arrest, recovery of property A ND successful prosecution of t he suspect(s). II. Priority Two A. The second priority of cases assigned shall be those cases, felony and misdemeanor, which have suffici ent information and with diligen t investigation, would lead to an arrest, recovery of property AN D successful prosecution of the suspect(s). III. Priority Three A. The third priority of cases a ssigned shall be those cases wh ich do not meet the criteria for priority one or two. These cases may be p ended or assigned as needed as determined by the bureau supervisor. Over riding factors which shall be consider ed in the assignment of priority three felony cases are as follows: 1. The victim incurred an excess ive loss of property or money. 2. The victim was killed or sus tained serious injury which requ ired hospitalization. 3. The crime is a sexual assault by an unknown assailant. 4. The criminal act was a moles tation, abuse, or kidnap of a ch ild (under 14 years of age). 5. The case is part of an identified series.
