OPERATIONS ORDER
Concealed Weapon Permits
The purpose of this Order is to standardize the confiscation of concealed weapon
permits, badges, and law enforcem ent identification at the time a prisoner is booked into
the Main Jail and at the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center (RCCC).
I. Sacramento County
A. All Sacramento County Sheri ff’s Department issued identifica tion cards,
badges, or concealed weapons permits found in the possession of a n
arrestee are to be confiscated by sworn personnel at the time o f booking.
1. These items are to be delivered to an officer in charge of g un
permits in the Special Investigations Division.
II. Outside Agencies
A. Identification, badges, or c oncealed weapons permits issued by other law
enforcement agencies will not be confiscated.
1. Firearms in the possession of the arrestee shall be booked f or
safekeeping or as evidence. The sworn custody supervisor will notify the outside age ncy of the incident.
III. Reporting
A. The sworn custody supervisor s hall complete an Interdepartme ntal
Correspondence (IDC) detailing the incident and forward the IDC t o t h e
Assistant Division Commander.
1. A copy of the arrest report noting the items in possession o f the
arrestee will be forwarded to the officer in charge of gun perm its in
the Special Investigations Div ision, the Assistant Division
Commander, the Division Commander, and the Chief Deputy of Correctional Services.
B. The arrestee’s Property and Clothing Record (PCR) form will be updated
to document the seizure of items in the arrestee’s possession.
