1/08 (rev.08/03) CIVIL DIVISION – ACCOUNT CLERK I& II The purpose of this Operations Or der is to outline the duties a nd responsibilities of the Sheriff’s Civil Division Account Clerk. I. General In addition to the duties associ ated with their job specificat ions, the Civil Division’s Account Clerks are responsible for accounting activ ities specific to the division. II. Chain of Command The Account Clerks report directl y to the Accounting Technicia n. III. Daily Responsibilities  Balances daily cash and check re ceipts and disbursements again st the following Civil Automated System reports: Daily Account Activity Civil Revenue Miscellaneous Item Daily Tender Voided Transaction Check Register  Identifies cases on the Check Request Edit Report and determin es if it is appropriate to send a disbursement check  Prepares disbursement checks for judgment creditors  Prepares refund checks for j udgment debtors and creditors  Identifies and posts to the Civil Automated System all enforce ment of judgment and garnishment checks re ceived from active levies IV. Routine Duties  Processes employer responses fr om wage garnishments and determ ines; If a case should be held open If a case should be closed  Reviews levy case files and proc esses writ returns in order to return writs to court  Notifies makers of NSF checks received by the division and fol lows through with collections
