Detective Division Page 1 of 1 1/08.0 (REV 4/97) MANAGEMENT REPORTING The purpose of this order is to outline the procedures for noti fication of major cases and incidents. I. Major Case/Incident Defined A. A major case or incident refer red to in this order is a case , incident, or circumstance which involves or may involve any of the following : media; a large number of personnel and res ources; the arrest or suspecte d criminal involvement of a peace officer, p ublic figure, or celebrity; an officer- involved shooting; an officer-inv olved incident resulting in a death; or an on-duty incapacitating injury or illness of Detective Division personnel. II. Notification Responsibility A. Regardless of time of day, Det ective Division personnel who initially learn of, or are made aware of, a major case or incident shall immedi ately report it to their supervisor. All such r eports shall be routed to the division commander via the chain of comm and. In the absence of the divis ion commander, the executive o fficer shall be notified. III. Daily Briefings A. Daily briefings or updates on major cases or incidents will be presented to the division commander by the bu reau commander or in their abse nce, a bureau supervisor before 0900 hours each work day.
