Relief Patrol Sergeant
The purpose of this order is to outline the duties and responsi bilities of the Relief Patrol
Sergeant. I. General
The Relief Sergeant, A Sheriff's Sergeant, is selected by the D ivision
Commander and serves directly under the direction of both the D ivision
Commander and the Assistant Commander.
II. Responsibilities of the Reli ef Sergeant may include the fol lowing:
A. Coordinate mandated in-service training.
1. Advanced Officer Training (AOT)
2. First Aid/CPR
3. Taser Training
4. Emergency Vehicle O perations Center (EVOC)
5. Miscellaneous
B. Coordinate optional in-service training.
1. Advise team supervisors of course announcements.
2. Oversee completion of registration forms.
3. Confirm registrati on requests with TPRD.
4. Coordinate travel requests
C. Monitor field trainees a ssigned to the division.
1. Work in direct relation with Patrol Training Coordinator.

3. Complete and forward trai nee progress reports to Assistant
Commander.
4. Meet with FTO’s and team s ergeants on a regular basis
5. Conduct documented counseling as needed
6. Assist Patrol Training Coordi nator with administrative heari ng
documentation
D. Attend monthly trai ning manager meetings.
E. Supervise security office rs working front counters.
F. Receive citizen complaints.
G. Review and assign ride-a-l ong request forms for Commander or Assistant
Commander approval.
H. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
I. Perform the duties of a Pat rol Sergeant when assigned by the Division
Commander.
