Training Program
The purpose of this Order is to o utline the Security Services B ureau training
program.
I. General
This training program is designed to teach trainees how to thin k and react in a
way that appropriately supports the mission and goals of the Se curity
Services Bureau.
II. Phase Training
The minimum training period for Security Officers is six (6) we eks. The
minimum training period for On-C all Sheriff’s Deputies is three (3) weeks.
The training will be divided into the following phases:
A. Phase one (1), two (2) weeks with Security Training Officer( s)
B. Phase two (2), two (2) weeks with Security Training Officer( s)
C. Phase three (3), one week with a Security Training Officer a nd one week
with a Bureau Field Deputy
D. Remedial training phases or addi tional training may be initi ated with the
approval of the Training Sergean t. Additional/remedial trainin g shall be
documented by the Training Office r in both a daily and weekly t rainee
evaluation.
E. On-Call Sheriff’s Deputies will train for one week in each o f the three (3)
phases unless additional and/or r emedial training is required.
The trainee will receive a tr aining manual. The training manua l includes
learning topics that must be re viewed by the trainee with their training officer,
and signed-off by the tr aining officer.
The training officer will comple te a comprehensive review of th e trainee’s
performance on a weekly basis. The Training Sergeant may, at a ny time,
require a training officer to com plete trainee evaluations more frequently. All
evaluations will be completed in a timely manner, reviewed and signed by the

trainee and the training officer , and forwarded to the Training Sergeant for
review. The evaluation will then be approved by the Bureau Com mander and
filed in the employ ee’s training file.
Upon recommendation from a trainin g officer, the Training Serge ant may
declare the employee finalized from training.
