Communications Page 1 of 1 1/05.2 (REV 10/98) OVERTIME SLIPS The purpose of this order is to p rovide instructions for comple ting overtime slips. I. Policy A. The employee is to completely fill out the overtime slip. Th e employee PIN must be written in the upper righ t corner of the overtime slip. B. A copy of the slip is to be re tained by the employee after i t is signed by the supervisor. The original slip is to be submitted to the watch s upervisor or their designee when the overtime is worked. C. The watch supervisor or thei r designee shall submit the sign ed overtime slips to the division commander, executive lieutenant, or the b ureau commander for final approval. D. Overtime slips that have not been signed by the division com mander, executive lieutenant, o r the bureau commander due to time restr ictions are to be attached to the front of the time sheet when it is submit ted. This situation would occur when di vision approval would delay the ov ertime slip being attached to the completed time sheet for the pay period w orked. II. Cash or CTO Overtime A. The Fair Labor Standards Act has imposed specific overtime p ayment requirements on public agencies . The following are guidelines f or overtime. 1. All overtime must be posted in the pay period in which it is earned. If overtime cannot be approved for the current pay period, it m ust be submitted as a payroll discr epancy so it will be recorded to the pay period in which it was worked.
