Court Security Division P age 1 of 2 1/04 (REV 6/11) General: Attendance The purpose of this Operations Or der is to define the policies for attendance and establish guidelines regardi ng time off for personnel assigned to all Sacramento County Superior Court facilities. I. Policy All personnel are expected to be at their assigned Court facili ty and at roll call/briefing or at their assigned positions pr epared to work at the start of th eir scheduled shift. Uniformed personnel are expect ed to be in uniform with proper e quipment at the start of the shift. II. Tardiness A. Personnel who will be late for work due to unforeseen circum stances shall immediately notify their s upervisor or Court Control. B. Personnel who have not previ ously arranged for time off with their supervisor and who report to work late may be required to write an Inter- Department Correspondence to their supervisor explaining the re ason for the tardiness. C. Personnel who develop a patte rn of tardiness may face discip linary action. III. Scheduled Time Off A. Unless there are exigent cir cumstances, all requests for tim e off shall be approved in advance. 1. Failure to receive advanced approval, by a supervisor, for t ime off may result in “leave without pay ” and/or disciplinary action. a. General Order 15/02 B. Each Court facility shall a ttempt to grant time off to emplo yees in a fair and prompt manner. 1. Minimum staffing levels will be strictly adhered to. C. Depending on the Court facilit y to which the employee is ass igned, requests for time off shall be submitted in the following manne r: Court Security Division P age 2 of 2 1/04 (REV 6/11) 1. Administrative Sergeant for downtown facilities (Gordon D. S chaber Courthouse and the Lorenzo E. P atino Hall of Justice). 2. Facility Sergeant at the Willi am R. Ridgeway Family Relation s Courthouse. 3. Facility Sergeant at the B.T . Collins Juvenile Courthouse. 4. Facility Sergeant at the Ca rol Miller Justice Center. IV. Sick Leave A. Every attempt shall be made to approve an employee’s planned , scheduled sick leave request. B. Personnel who are unable to report to work due to illness or injury shall notify their supervisor or Cour t Control at least two hours pri or to the start of their shift. 1. General Order 15/03 V. County Holidays A. Court facilities are closed on specific County holidays. Si nce there is generally no work in the Court fa cilities for Sheriff’s personn el on these days, personnel must take time off pursuant to General Order 15 /02. B. Occasionally, the Division Co mmander will aut horize or sch edule a mandatory or voluntary training day that coincides with a Count y holiday. Uniformed personnel attending the training session shall be cre dited with a regular work day VI. Maintaining Work Assignment A. Personnel will remain at thei r assigned position until they are relieved by another qualified em ployee; released by completion of their ass igned task (supervisor may assign other tasks) ; or given authorization by a supervisor to leave. B. Personnel not released by t he end of their scheduled shift s hall notify a supervisor or Court Control. C. Personnel who abandon their assignment without just cause or notification may face disciplinary action. 1. Sacramento County Civ il Service Code §11.4(d).
