Communications Page 1 of 1 1/02.1 (REV10/98) TARDINESS The purpose of this order is to e stablish guidelines for docume nting unauthorized tardiness. I. Policy All employees are expected to be in the Communications Bureau a nd at roll call/briefing or at their assigne d positions prepared to work a t the start of their scheduled watches. Uniformed personnel are expected to be in un iform and prepared to work at thei r assigned positions. II. Procedure A. Employees who have not previou sly arranged time off with the watch supervisor, and who report to wor k late may be required to subm it an inter-department correspondence ex plaining the reason for being late. B. Employees who are late for any reason two or more times in a pay period will have such events documented as a tardy incident. Employees documented as being tardy four o r more times within six pay per iods will have these events documented as a tardy incident. C. The documentation of the tard y incident will include an inte r-department correspondence from the employee ex plaining the reasons for the tardiness. This documentation sha ll remain in the employee’s di vision personnel file for 12 months. D. Employees having three docum ented tardy incidents within 12 months may be subject to disciplinary action. III. Attendance Records A. Watch supervisors shall record all incidents of tardiness in red ink on the bi-weekly personnel schedule. Thi s information will be transfer red to the employee’s attendance records a t the end of each pay period.
