Field Deputy
The purpose of this Orders is to o utline the Security Services Bureau’s Sheriff’s
Deputy responsibilities.
I. General
Sheriff’s Deputies assigned as B ureau Field Deputies will be fu ll time and
sworn. They will wear a full uni form and drive marked Sheriff’ s patrol
vehicles. Security Services Bur eau Sheriff’s Deputies are unde r the direct
supervision of Security Se rvices Bureau sergeants.
II. General Duties – Field Deputies
A. Oversee day-to-day operations at contracted facilities which fall under
their responsibility.
B. Transportation of arrested subjects. C. Evaluate and handl e all 5150 W & I subjects at Contract faci lities.
D. Assist Security Officers wit h criminal investigations and an y other
incident that warr ants attention.
E. Review and correct all reports before submitting to sergeant s.
F. Assist Security Officers with booking evidence.
G. Conduct follow up investigati ons on crimes occurring at cont racted
facilities.
H. Investigate all threats dire cted at contracted agency staff and facilities.
I. Provide remedial and continui ng training to Security Service s Bureau
personnel.
J. Create, develop, and instruc t workplace violence and employe e safety
courses.
K. Conduct ancillary duties as required.
